This year PFLAG Spokane has sent out a questionnaire to the candidates that we will be voting on in November. Here is the list of candidates that we have contacted. In the RESPONSE column, the YES responses will link you to that candidate’s answers to our questionnaire. Responses are not altered or edited. So keep checking back to see who and what the candidates are saying.
PFLAG SPOKANE CANDIDATES QUESTIONNAIRE
PFLAG Spokane is the local area chapter for PFLAG National. We are an organization for the support, education, and advocacy of the LGBTQ+ community and their family and friends.
We work to help improve the lives of the LGBTQ+ community by advocating for laws that improve protections for our community. We also help to educate people who have questions about the community and their loved ones who are part of our community.
With that being said we are interested in knowing how you, as a candidate, would work to help advocate and support the LGBTQ+ community by answering the following questions.
- Do you support the full and equal treatment of same-sex couples in regards to issues like Healthcare, housing discrimination, and other related issues?
- Transgender women, especially transgender women of color, are being killed at a horrific rate. Do you support protections being advocated for the Transgender community?
- Comprehensive Sexual Health Education is a very important thing for the LGBTQ+ community to help decrease sexual assault and suicide. Do you support SB 5395 and the “Approve R90” campaign?
- The Federal House of Representatives passed the Equality Act, however, it has not been taken up in the Senate. Do you support the Equality Act?
- Some conversations are being had about making Eastern Washington a Christian State that would remove state-level protections for the LGBTQ+ community. Do you support or reject the idea of stripping protections from LGBTQ+ people?
Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions. We will be posting a list of all the candidates that we have sent this to and your responses as soon as they are received.

To have a Country, State, County & City where we do not need to advocate for LGBTQ+ rights.
So no member of the LGBTQ+ community can be treated like a second class citizen in our country.
You are our resources. Your strength, will power, and desire to make this a better place for all members of the LGBTQ+ community and their family and friends.
